Geothermal in Pacific Islands Countries

In light of the report on geothermal field resources data and development feasibility on Pacific islands countries issued by New Zealand geothermal company on June, 1995, Rohit Autar considered that it has sufficient reason to exploit the geothermal resources in order to replace the fossil fuels which are only required for small-sized power generation.

Furthermore, small-sized industry associated with local major production also increased gradually, for example, edible sugar processing industry in Fiji can also take the benefits of the exploited geothermal resources.

Other direct utilization of geothermal resources, for example, saltern industry, coconut fruit drying, dyeing by cocoa, palm oil processing industry in Papua New Guinea, and other agricultural product processing, can contribute to save biomass and the current utilizing fossil fuels. The expanding of small-sized processing industry in islands countries can create exporting expenses, mitigate the discharging quantity on the polluted gases, and allow the utilization of geothermal resources reach the maximum degree.
